Katelynn and Andrew met in the seventh grade. They were seated across from each other in Ms. Treadwell's English class, but that’s not where their love story started. In the ninth grade Andrew sat behind Katelynn in Ms. Ray's history class (constantly teasing her), but again that’s not where their love story started. Thanks to their mutual friend, Austin Turbeville (groomsman), in the summer between ninth and tenth grade Katelynn decided she wanted to be friends with Andrew too. Austin gave Katelynn Andrew’s phone number, and finally that’s where their love story starts.
Over the course of 6 months, the two teens talked just about all day, everyday. Feelings developed past friendship, and Andrew decided to make things official on January 15, 2010. The rest is history! Katelynn and Andrew dated for the remainder of their high school years, and during senior year their peers voted them cutest couple. When it came time to apply to colleges, the couple wanted to decide independently from one another where to attend school. As fate would have it, both decided that Clemson University felt like home. Through 4 years of fraternity and sorority functions, football games in Death Valley, long nights in Cooper library, and TTT’s trivia victories, the two continued to grow closer.
In 2016, the couple started the long distance phase of their relationship when Katelynn graduated from Clemson and moved to Athens, GA for graduate school at The University of Georgia. They drove back and forth between the two campuses each weekend to visit each other. In 2017, the distance between the two grew farther when Andrew graduated from Clemson and accepted a job with Michelin in Tuscaloosa, AL. Visits became less frequent, but they found the saying, “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” to be very true.
In November 2017, Andrew and Katelynn took a fall vacation in Asheville, NC. While visiting the Biltmore Estate, Andrew guided Katelynn on a walk around the grounds. Little did she know, he was scoping out the perfect spot to propose. After 7 years of dating, Andrew asked Katelynn to be his wife. The couple immediately knew what day they wanted to be their wedding date, as both Katelynn’s parents and Andrew’s parents share the same wedding anniversary, May 18th. They are looking forward to celebrating the day with friends and family. Katelynn and Andrew are eager to start their lives as husband and wife in Columbia, SC.
